Report of IMB Working Group on the Classification of Methods of Supply for Veterinary Vaccines

28 November 2007

Tags: 2007

The IMB has been considering the position in respect to the method of classification of the supply of veterinary vaccines during 2007. The Board of the IMB adopted a report on the Classification of Methods of Supply for Veterinary Vaccines at their meeting on 28 November 2007. IMB policy on the classification of veterinary vaccines will henceforth follow the criteria established in the Report.

As a consequence to this decision, Marketing Authorisation Holders affected are requested to make application to amend authorisations (as necessary) by 30 June 2008. Recognising that some products have a seasonal cycle, and in deference to the wish of the animal health industry not to put the supply of needed vaccines at risk due to logistics of packaging changes, the Board has decided that all packaging and literature for vaccines which require amendment should comply with the IMB policy now agreed before 30 June 2009.

If you require further clarification of IMB requirements please contact the Veterinary Medicines Department of the IMB by email to vetinfo@imb.ie or by telephone on 01 6764971.
