Retailer pleads guilty to supply of medicines without prescription

The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) today noted that Balbriggan District Court’s ruling by Judge Dermot Dempsey in a case involving the unauthorised supply of medicinal products.  David Power and Green Ecotech Ltd pleaded guilty to breaches involving supplying medicinal products without a prescription and not having a marketing authorisation. 

The products, found at the premises in Express Grow in Malahide and Balbriggan included “Amplified” which when tested was found to contain Dimethocaine, while the product “Raz” was found to contain Lidocaine. Mr Power was fined €1,250, with additional expenses relating to analysis and destruction costs to the value of €3,350 to be paid to the IMB; whilst Green Ecotech Ltd was also found guilty and fined €1,750.

The case was brought by the IMB under the Irish Medicines Board Act following an investigation carried out by the IMB and supported by An Garda Síochána, and Revenue’s Customs Service.
