IMB launches new online reporting form for veterinary medicines

27 September 2010

The Veterinary Medicines Department of the IMB is pleased to announce the launch of a new online reporting form for reporting suspected adverse events to veterinary medicinal products.

The form is similar to that which has been in place for reporting adverse events to human medicinal products for some time and can be accessed from the homepage of the IMB website by clicking on the ‘Online Reporting’ icon. The new form means that reports can now be submitted directly to the veterinary medicines department online without the need for downloading a reporting form, completing offline and subsequently sending to the IMB via email or post.

The form is aimed predominantly at veterinarians or other healthcare professionals but can also be used by members of the general public to report suspected adverse events associated with the administration of veterinary medicinal products to animals under their care. However, when the source of a report is other than a healthcare professional, it is recommended that the advice of a veterinary surgeon be sought prior to reporting to ensure that the information provided is accurate and comprehensive.

The IMB hopes that this new tool will increase reporting amongst the veterinary profession by simplifying the reporting process. Any feedback on the new form by reporters is welcome and can be directed to imbvetadr@imb.ie.
