Four-year sentence for unauthorised medicine manufacture

The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) has noted the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court’s ruling yesterday in a case involving the unauthorised manufacture of a medicinal product.
Darren Pidgeon pleaded guilty to charges of manufacturing medicinal products containing the active substance Zopiclone. Mr Pidgeon was sentenced to four years in prison to be suspended pending good behaviour.
The case was brought by the Director of Public Prosecutions under the Irish Medicines Board Act following an investigation carried out by An Garda Síochána, Revenue’s Customs and the IMB.
