Fine and prison sentence for James Bellamy in illegal medicines case

The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) notes that James Bellamy, Director of Harmony Products Ltd, yesterday received a three year prison sentence and a fine of €100,000 at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. This followed his conviction for the illegal importation and wholesale of unauthorised prescription only medicinal products which were later sold as ‘herbal viagra’ for erectile dysfunction.
Harmony Products Ltd was also fined €150,000 with one year to pay or distress in default.
The case was brought by the Director of Public Prosecutions following an investigation carried out by the IMB and An Garda Síochána.
