Declarations of Interests
16 September 2011
The Irish Medicines Board’s (IMB) founding legislation and Corporate Governance policies have specific provisions which require annual disclosure of interests by all staff and by Board and expert advisory committee members. These provisions are administered by the IMB in line with best Irish and International practice. Our policies are also consistent with those of the European Medicines Agency. They provide assurance to the IMB and to the patients and public we serve that potential conflicts of interest do not occur whilst also allowing the IMB to have access to the best available scientific experts.
As an extension of the policies which are already in place, and as stated in its published Strategic Plan (2011-2015), the IMB is currently establishing a framework to allow for publication of the individual Declarations of Interests relating to Board members and senior management. It is anticipated that publication of these declarations will begin before the end of this year.
