BEMA – Benchmarking of European Medicines Agencies
This benchmarking programme involves staff from different European medicines regulatory agencies visiting other agencies to conduct independent reviews of their management and their assessment, pharmacovigilance and inspection systems. The results of the assessments are used to help the agencies share best practices and highlight areas for improvement.

Blood establishment
Any organisation involved in the collection, testing, processing, storage and distribution of blood and blood components. The IMB grants blood establishments an authorisation for their activities.

Borderline products
Products which may be medicines or may be foods, cosmetics or medical devices depending on either the ingredients or the claims made for the product or both. A claim will usually relate to the intended benefit of using the product.
