Answers to questions asked at the information day

An information day for manufacturers, importers and distributors of cosmetics in Ireland will be hosted by the IMB on the 15th September 2010, from 9:00 to 14:00. The event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Northwood Park, Santry Demesne, Dublin 9. A full overview of the event including the programme agenda can be accessed here.

We would like to thank those that have registered for their interest in the event, and we look forward to seeing you on the day. Some final details and clarifications in relation to the day are outlined below.

Aims of the Seminar

The purpose of the information day is to provide an overview of the transfer of the Competent Authority role for cosmetics from the Department of Health and Children to the IMB. The event will also provide an overview of the legislation impacting the cosmetics sector and the IMB's role, and that of other stakeholders involved in market surveillance, including the Health Service Executive (HSE), Department of Health and Children (DoHC) and the National Consumer Agency (NCA). An introduction to the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), and how standards development impacts the cosmetics regulatory framework, will also be provided.

Attendance is recommended as the event will provide an important update on the transfer of the Competent Authority role for cosmetics as well as discussing the practical aspects of ensuring cosmetic product safety.

Who Should Attend

Given the nature of the information that will be provided, we would anticipate that attendance at the event would be of most benefit to those working in quality, regulatory or compliance related areas.

Attendance will initially be limited to two persons per organisation. Additional places may be allocated thereafter, pending availability.

Fee & Venue Details

Fee: A nominal fee of €50 per attendee will be applied.

Please contact the hotel directly if you are interested in booking accommodation.

We have received a huge response in terms of the number of attendees to date, and plan to close out the application process by the close of business on Thursday the 9th of September.

Registration forms for the day, including details of the fees, may be downloaded here. Completed registration forms should be sent electronically to the following addresses:  silvia.vasilkova@imb.ie and compliance@imb.ie

Registration on the Day

Registration on the day will commence at 8:00 a.m. Attendees are advised to register as early as possible on the morning of the event, as the programme will start at 9:15 a.m. sharp. Tea and coffee will be provided during registration.

Discussion Sessions

We do encourage attendees to actively participate in the discussion sessions on the day. We would also like to provide attendees with an opportunity to submit written questions, of relevance to the programme itinerary, in advance of the event. Questions may be submitted (electronically) with immediate effect to compliance@imb.ie. It will also be possible to submit questions during the course of the event itself.
